Every local Hong Kong business needs to grow, and very often may struggle to grow through digital marketing in Hong Kong. The tips below are for references to local biz owners who want to expand through internet marketing strategies.

Tip 1: Partnership Go out to meet people who may end up as your business connections and/or may form business partnership. You can do this entirely in Hong Kong, locally. In local events and conferences, you will be able to meet people in your industry and even influencers, authors, bloggers, or experts. Speak with them to find out how both parties may help each other. In some cases, you may let them reach your audience, and they would do the same in exchange. This way, your product and their product would end up doubling the size of audience and/or potential buyers.

Tip 2: Blogging – Create a blog on your Hong Kong small business website. When you first start, plan out your keyword strategy with some practical tools, such as Google Keyword Planner tool. Stick with your keyword strategy when creating new articles for your posts. Do not forget to regularly post, or at least when you start, aim to publish 30 articles in the first 3 months. You may not see the traffic coming in during the first three months, and you may only see the effort after 6 months. Adjust your keyword strategy when the traffic comes in and after reviewing your traffic data through Google search console and Google Analytics, and some other third party monitoring tools. Add social buttons on your blog to make it easy for your readers to reshare.

Tip 3: e-Book – Write and publish a few e-books for your industry. In the e-book, you should reveal how much you know about your products in your industry. Make it a definitive guide for people to download and even share. It is a good way to build up a reputation in your industry. Don’t forget to share your e-book to a few HK local experts in your industry, as they may give you advices and/or spread the words for you.

Tip 4: Email marketing – Over the years you must have collected many business cards from different people you have met (during the old times making business deals in Hong Kong). Organize the cards into a database of contacts and email addresses. Sign up free mailing software such as Mailchimp. Now you’re on your way to start your first email campaign.

Tip 5: Social media – Each blog article you have written and published, you should post it on social media whether it is LinkedIn, Facebook, or other social media sites. Lots of people including your local HK target consumers are on the social media platforms.

Tip 6: Q&A sites – Get traffic from Quora. Quora is a Q&A site where anyone can post a question and get answers from experts. Create a Quora account, and set up your profile. In your personal profile (or bio), fill in all the relevant information. Look for questions on Quora in which you are able to answer, and actually write the answers. Both quality and quantity are important. With quality answers, you will get upvote from other Quora users. You will need to keep doing it regularly and continuously. The more questions you have answered, the higher visibility you will get in the Quora community. Both quality and quantity help you becoming an expert on Quora.
