Cargo theft from warehouses accounted for 14% of all global cargo theft in 2020, making them a prime target for criminals seeking easy profits. Contributing factors include the perception of these crimes as low-risk, high-reward due to minor criminal penalties and the difficulty in tracking stolen cargo, with less than 20% being recovered. Internal theft is also a growing problem, with 90% of significant theft losses being attributed to employees.
