Smartphones have made the lives of people commendable fast. People are now adopting modern solutions to get things easily. Do you need something online? Unlock the phone and order! Are you hungry? Unlock your phone and order! Everything is so digital now that people are refusing to move out just like the old days. It is good to be modern, but it is really saddening that people are getting rid of their usual habits. Evidently, this was not the sole purpose of making phones smarter.
Hence, this article is about giving you the challenge to keep the smartphones aside for a day and feel the perks of it.
Are Smartphones Bad?
No, Smartphones are not at all bad. They make international communications easy. The business works can now be handled at a flick of your fingers. They are totally enjoyable, but there is a necessity of ‘Smartphone Detox’ at least once a month.
It is essential for people to socialize more in real life than over mobiles. Friends and family are moving out for dinner, and every member has their phones in hand. This is the kind of addiction and obsession this article is talking about.
Addiction is taking over the necessity, and that is what needs to be changed. Smartphones are more likely to distract people from the real-world conversations, which is not right for the generation ahead. Is it truly acceptable? Can the use of smartphones be channelized? No one knows that yet. But one thing that can be done is to try living a day without a smartphone and see how it feels like.
A Day without Smartphones
There are probably many things that could be mentioned here that would replicate the things that you can do by keeping aside your smartphones for a day. It is evident that you will constantly stare at your phone to pick it up and scroll through your social media buzz. But you need to control it, to begin with, this challenge.
Take up this challenge sportingly, and you would eventually feel good about it. While you do that, here are some of the things that you must keep in mind.
Social Media is the biggest distraction above all. On average, a human spends around 64 months of his/her life digging social media. How productive is it? Spending more than five years of your life on social media is going to get you nowhere.
You will realize it when you cut off your social media handles for a day. Tune in to news channels for better updates about what is going on across the globe. Social Media gives information in pieces while you can get a complete insight into television news.
Are you feeling like talking to someone you love or like? Go out and meet them instead of texting and video calls. It would give you better fun when the handshakes are not virtual but real. Bring back that old fun and go on a tour or a lunch celebration without the biggest distraction, smartphones.
Spend more time with your friends or family without peeping into the blinking notifications on your phone. Do not order your food, but instead go to a restaurant and enjoy the meal. Do you want groceries for your home? Go out and get them.
Smartphones are necessary for life to make it a bit easy while handling all the work in a day. But it is not the addiction that we must adapt but the beneficial perks of it. We need to connect more with the real world than the virtual. Therefore, start with this challenge for a day and make it a habit to do the same at least once in a week on your off days.
